Paper tray 2 did not lift into the ready position. The machine thinks the tray cannot feed paper safely.
Overfilled trays, paper jammed behind the tray, debris under the stack, or a tray that was not seated correctly are the usual office causes.
Safe things you can try
- Turn the machine off with the main power switch.
- Remove all paper from tray 2.
- Pull tray 2 all the way out, lift the front about 30 degrees, and remove the tray from the machine.
- Clear any paper or debris behind or under where the tray sits.
- Reinstall the tray, load paper only up to the limit mark, and turn the machine on.
- When the machine reaches Ready, close tray 2 fully and try printing from that tray.
Do not do these
- Do not overload the tray past the fill mark.
- Do not bend the lift plate or force the tray if it binds.
Never enter service mode or clear safety codes yourself. Those steps can damage the machine or leave a safety lock uncleared.
When to call for service
If the code returns or tray 2 still will not load paper after clearing jams and reseating, the lift motor or sensors need service.
