Fusing

What This Means in Plain Terms

A temperature sensor reading is out of range. The machine stops because it cannot safely confirm how hot a monitored area is.

This is often related to a thermistor or its wiring. End users can safely cool the machine and try one clean restart; further work belongs to a technician.

Safe things you can try

  1. Turn the machine off and leave it off for at least 10 minutes so internal parts can cool.
  2. Confirm the machine is plugged directly into a working wall outlet, not a questionable power strip.
  3. Turn the machine on once and wait through warm-up.

Do not do these

  • Do not open the fusing area. Parts stay hot enough to burn skin.
  • Do not enter service mode to clear or reset temperature faults.

Never enter service mode or clear safety codes yourself. Those steps can damage the machine or leave a safety lock uncleared.

When to call for service

If SC497 returns after a cool-down and one restart, the thermistor or related assembly needs service.
