Safe things you can try
- Turn the machine completely off with the main power switch.
- Unplug the power cord, wait about 30 seconds, then press the power button a few times to discharge residual power.
- Lift the document feeder and look at the white reference plates above the scanner glass. Wipe away dust, toner spots, sticky notes, or colored marks with a soft, dry, lint-free cloth.
- Also wipe the scanner glass itself if it looks dirty.
- Plug the machine back in, turn it on, and try a simple scan or copy.
